Outline of Activities in Japan

1. Training
Brief Therapist Training: Holding of Brief Therapy Programs (I-III), etc.
Brief Coaching Training: Holding of Brief Coaching Programs (Basic, Parent, Business, Teacher), etc.
Ethics training: For qualified brief therapists or brief coaches
Fellowship: Held for those who have completed all Brief Therapist trainings or equivalent, and who have been approved by the Board of Directors and the training trainer.

2、Certification
Brief Therapist: “Basic”, “Senior”, and “Master”, each with different qualifications, examination procedures, and criteria.
Brief Coach: “Basic”, “Expert”, and “Executive”, each with different qualifications, examination methods, and criteria.

3, Academic Meetings
Annual conferences: Brief-Number 1 Grand Prix, case study presentations, survey and research presentations, symposiums, lectures, independent symposiums, etc.

4. Publication of periodicals
Annual report “Interactional Mind”: Published once a year
Online journal “International Journal of Brief Therapy”: Available online.

5. Award System
Naohiro Ono Award (Special Award): Awarded to individuals who have made particularly outstanding contributions to society through education over many years and who are recognized as having contributed to the development and dissemination of brief therapy.
Distinguished Service Award: Awarded to those who are recognized as having contributed to the development of brief therapy over many years through the activities of the Society and the management of academic conferences.
Paper Award (Academic Research Award): Awarded to the author of a paper that has made an outstanding contribution to the development of theory or application of brief therapy and its adjoining sciences. The paper must be published in the International Journal of Brief Therapy & Family Science (hereafter referred to as “IJBF”).
Keizo Hasegawa Award (Special Award): Awarded to the author of a paper on brief intervention methods or related basic research for families and couples who are considered to have difficulties. The paper must be published in the IJBF.
Encouragement Award: This Award is given for research and practice. In the area of research, the prize will be awarded to the author of an outstanding article or book published in a domestic or foreign research journal on the theory or application of brief therapy and related disciplines, in order to encourage young researchers to pursue their research. In principle, young researchers must be under 30 years old. In practice, the award is given to those who are recognized as having contributed to the development of brief therapy through their excellent practical activities.
Best Presentation Award: Awarded to those who have given excellent oral or poster presentations at academic conferences.

4. Counseling Activities: Management of “NFBT counseling offices (Tokyo & Sendai)”.
